Our story

We started in Leander and we've stayed here.

Comfort Pros was founded by Chris Freeman, who spent over a decade learning the HVAC trade from the ground up. He started as a helper at 18, worked his way through installation, lead install, and service before starting his own company. He knew the area, knew the houses, and knew what good work looked like.

The goal was straightforward: serve Leander homeowners the way a neighbor would. Honest about what the system needs. Clear about what it costs. Accountable after the job is done.

We've been a Carrier factory authorized dealer since we opened. That credential requires ongoing training, stocking approved parts, and meeting installation standards that Carrier monitors. We keep it because it's the right way to run the business, not because it looks good on a truck.

The founder

Chris Freeman

Chris started in HVAC at 18 as a helper on residential install jobs. Over the next decade, he moved through every role in the trade: installer, lead installer, service technician, and comfort advisor. By the time he founded Comfort Pros in 2018, he had worked on hundreds of homes across Leander, Cedar Park, and surrounding communities and had a clear picture of what an HVAC company should look like.

He built Comfort Pros around the same standards he developed through those years. Size the system correctly using load calculations, not estimates. Explain what the system needs before starting any work. Follow up after the job to confirm it's performing as it should.

That approach hasn't changed as the company has grown. The crew handles more calls and more installs than in the early days, but the standards on each job are the same ones Chris applied when it was just him and one truck.

"We're not here to sell HVAC systems. We're here to make sure the house is comfortable and the homeowner understands what's in it."

How we operate

Three things we don't negotiate on.

These aren't talking points. They're the standards Chris built the company around and the ones every job gets measured against.

01

Honest diagnostics

We tell you what the system actually needs. If a repair is the right answer, we say repair. We don't size toward replacement because the margin is better. You get a written summary of findings on every service call.

02

Correct sizing

Every replacement starts with a load calculation. Not a rule of thumb, not matching what the previous unit was. We measure the house, account for insulation and windows, and match the equipment to what the space actually needs.

03

Follow-up as standard

The job isn't done when we leave. We check in after every install and significant repair to confirm the system is performing as expected. If it isn't right, we come back.

Credentials and licensing

The paperwork that backs up the work.

Running a proper HVAC company in Texas means maintaining the right credentials year over year. These aren't one-time certifications. They require active renewal, ongoing training, and meeting standards that third parties monitor.

Texas HVAC License (TACL) Licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Required for all HVAC work in the state.
Carrier factory authorized dealer Authorized. Requires ongoing technical training, installation standards, and product certification.
Licensed and insured in Texas Full general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Certificates available on request.
EPA Section 608 certified Required for all technicians handling refrigerants. Certifies proper handling, recovery, and disposal.
NCI Certified — National Comfort Institute Performance-based training in airflow diagnostics, system testing, and combustion analysis. NCI certification requires passing hands-on assessments in the field.

Factory authorized means ongoing accountability.

Carrier factory authorization isn't a one-time purchase. It requires passing technical training year over year, maintaining installation standards, and staying current on new product lines. Authorized dealers can register equipment for full manufacturer warranty coverage at the point of installation — something independent installers cannot do.

We've held Carrier authorization since Comfort Pros opened in 2018. We stock genuine Carrier parts and carry the full Infinity and Performance product lines.

15yr
System lifespan

The systems we install are built to run cleanly for fifteen years. We size them correctly so the runtime stays within design range.
